Setting Strong Intentions for 2027: Why Your New Year Reset Can Start Now

I know it’s only September, but this month, and the return to work and school, is always like a reset. So, in a way, it’s a great time to look ahead and make positive plans for the Queen of resets – the new year!

January 2027 is not that far away and is a lovely time to start thinking about how you want the next year ahead to feel.

Not what you want to achieve.

Not another list of things you should be doing.

But how you want to feel.

For many of us, January arrives with a familiar sense of pressure. New year, new goals, new habits, new version of ourselves. We make resolutions, join gyms, start diets, buy notebooks and promise ourselves that this will be the year everything changes.

And then, a few weeks later, real life gets in the way.

What if we approached January differently?

Instead of setting rigid resolutions, try setting intentions. An intention is less about a specific outcome and more about the direction you want to move in.

You might decide that in 2027 you want to:

  • Feel calmer

  • Make more time for yourself

  • Look after your physical health

  • Protect your energy

  • Spend more time doing things that make you happy

  • Become more confident

  • Prioritise rest

  • Be kinder to yourself

These aren't things you tick off a list. They're ways of living that you can return to throughout the year.

Your brain responds to where you put your attention

One of the things I love about Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy is helping people understand how the brain works. Our brains are naturally drawn towards problems, threats and things that need fixing. It's part of our survival system. But we can also learn to pay more attention to what's going well, what we want more of and the small steps we can take towards it.

That doesn't mean ignoring the difficult things in life. It means making space for the positive too. And sometimes a simple shift in focus can change how we approach the days ahead.

Start thinking about your 2027 now

You don't need to wait until New Year's Eve to decide what you want from the year ahead.

In fact, starting to think about it now means you can approach January with a little more clarity rather than feeling that you need to reinvent yourself overnight.

Ask yourself:

How do I want to feel in 2027?

What would I like more of?

What would I like less of?

What helps me feel calm, energised and happy?

What am I ready to let go of?

There are no right answers. The important thing is to start paying attention to what you need.

A day to Nourish, Move & Restore

This is exactly why I'm so excited about our New Year January Reset Wellness Day.

On Saturday 16th January 2027, I'll be joining Nicola Pike, Bowen Practitioner & Movement Expert, and Ruth Seymour, Nutritional Therapist, at the beautiful Barley Wood House in Wrington for an intimate one-day wellbeing retreat.

Together, we'll bring three different areas of wellbeing together - nutrition, movement and mental wellbeing, to help you start 2027 feeling refreshed and restored.

During the day you’ll explore nutrition for energy and health, enjoy gentle therapeutic movement, experience deep relaxation and hypnosis, enjoy a delicious nutritious lunch and take away practical ideas to support your wellbeing throughout the year.

Most importantly, it’s a chance to pause. To step away from the usual January expectations and spend a day thinking about what you want your year to look and feel like.

You don't need a New Year resolution. You might just need an intention.

Perhaps 2027 doesn't need to be the year you become a completely different person.

Perhaps it's the year you take better care of the person you already are.

Nourish. Move. Restore.

And start the year with a strong intention to look after yourself. Join us in January:
