Celebrating the Importance of Community for our Wellbeing this May
Celebrating the Importance of Community for our Wellbeing this May

As Mental Health Awareness Week approaches (13–19th May), I’ve been reflecting on one of the most powerful yet often overlooked tools for mental wellbeing: community.

As a hypnotherapist here in Clevedon, I work every day with people navigating stress, anxiety, and emotional overwhelm. And while therapy is a deeply personal journey, one thing I’ve found to be universally healing is connection—being part of something bigger than ourselves.

Whether it’s a chat with a neighbour, attending a local class, volunteering, or simply feeling that you’re not alone—community matters. It gives us purpose, support, and shared joy, especially during life’s tougher moments.

So I’d love to ask you: What are you doing to care for your mental health this May?

If you’re not sure where to start, here are a few simple ideas to boost your wellbeing and happiness levels this month:

🪷 Spend time with uplifting people—even a 10-minute catch-up can make a difference.

🪷 Move your body—walks in nature, stretching, or dancing in the kitchen all count.

🪷 Practice gratitude—write down 3 things each day that made you smile.

🪷Join a group or activity—being part of something helps us feel connected and seen.

🪷Try guided relaxation or hypnotherapy—give your mind the rest it deserves.

🪷 Be kind to yourself—your mental health is just as important as your physical health.

This May, let’s not forget how powerful it can be to simply show up for ourselves—and each other. Whether you’re reaching out for support or offering a helping hand, community is healing.

🪷Out in the Community – Clevedon’s Happy Companions Club

I’m honoured to be volunteering at Clevedon’s Happy Companions Club on May 13th, where I’ll be offering a group Relaxation & Wellbeing session to help our lovely elderly residents sleep better and feel calmer. Supporting wellbeing in all stages of life is something I’m deeply passionate about.

If you’d like to explore hypnotherapy or join one of my upcoming relaxation classes here in Clevedon, I’d love to welcome you. Get in touch at sarah@yourbestmind.co.uk

Take care,
